As I type this, I’m back in Fayetteville and the 2023 hike is complete. I was able to do the entire section I set out to do.
When I began I wasn’t sure the seven hundred twenty five mile section would be possible, but began tackling it one day at a time.
I didn’t have time or train for it since from working so much.
I wasn’t in the right head-space to begin such a feat.
I wasn’t sure the funds would hold up - I’d saved up all I could for the train tickets, food, and the occasional hostel stay, but personal finances took a hit. Thanks to reader’s subscriptions and some Venmo supporters I was able to hike on to the end of the planned section.
I’m getting things back on track. I don’t mind being a starving artist but it doesn’t only affect me - it affects my wife and it affects how much support we can lend our son.
The way my writings/posts work: I have to have a time buffer between the section hikes and the posts.
I completed the 2023 hike on 5/17/23 and made it home on the 19th.
I’ll spend the rest of the year writing the stories, which will begin posting in winter of 2024. (50+ stories/posts)
The next two weekly posts will share life changes between the 2021 hike and the 2022 hike.
The stories of the 2022 section will begin posting on 6/13/23 (and there are 20+ stories/posts).
A huge turning point toward the good is about to unfold in the story. The 2022 hike is much different than those of the past.
New dynamics. New insights. New Sprawl.
I hope you follow along each week to see where the trail leads.
