#60 Drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, October 2019: Day Two
Tonight, it’s good to be alone, but also good to conjure up the comforts of friendship, through music from my little speaker.
Drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, October 2019: Day Two: Mount Mitchell to Lynneville Falls.
After a restful night’s sleep I wake to a cold and damp morning high upon Mount Mitchell. My bear friend from late last night is long gone. I grab my keys and drive to the observation deck to watch the sun rise. Once again I’m alone on the tower. It is cold and windy. The pink and purple layer of clouds block the valley far below.
Why am I up here alone?
Everyone in the world needs to experience mornings like this.
Back in camp I capture a great scene of the hillside with clouds blanketing the valley below. I can see some of my neighbors down trail taking in the scene as well.
The wet tent and other damp gear are all thrown into the back of my truck. The sun is sure to make an appearance today. My boots are still damp from the section hike earlier this week and need a sun bath as well.
The drive down the mountains takes me back into dense fog and spotty drizzle.
