#85 Damascus VA Mile 470.4 to Home
We completed the two-hundred mile section of the Appalachian Trail between Hot Springs NC to Damascus VA. Our biggest hike yet.....
We did it!!!
We completed the Hot Springs NC to Damascus VA. section.
No injuries or illnesses.
Friendships intact.
We’re exhausted, hungry, clammy, and smell terrible.
Life is good today.
A group selfie, a few solo victory photos.
Medicine Man pours a bit of bourbon he left in the truck into trail mugs.
A toast to the moment. What a moment.
Holy Crap! Let’s eat!
We toss our gear into the bed of the truck, ourselves into the cab, then head to the same restaurant in Damascus where we’d eaten a little over two weeks ago.
We wave as we pass B.F. Nelson sitting in front of a Subway restaurant with sandwiches spread out in front of him. Happy Trails, Dude.
Chilly wind and mists from the cold rain swirls around the large canopy, and occasionally sprays us, but we don’t care, we’re focused on devouring supper.
Families coming off the Virginia Creeper Bicycle Trail abandon their bicycles at the picket fenced entrance to seek shelter inside the restaurant.
