#80 Station 19 TN to Mountaineer Shelter Day 36: ATMM 395.5 to ATMM 404.1
The roar and mist-filled winds created by this enormous feature reminds me how powerful and majestic Mother Nature’s force and beauty can be.
In lieu of a hot hotel breakfast we are handed a Covid-inspired brown-bag breakfast consisting of an apple, a bottle of water, and two small breakfast bars. One of the perks of sleeping in a hotel while traveling by trail is that you get to raid the breakfast buffet with a vengeance before getting back on trail. This disappointment is a small reminder of just how weird many things are at this point in history. Feeling cheated, I asked for two. They gave me two. We take our bagged treats to the courtyard to put some in our bellies and some in our packs.
Second Breakfast drives the four of us back to the US19E trailhead, where we ended yesterday’s hike. Unloading our gear from the car we spot Antz and Father Time walking up the highway from the direction of Harbor Mountain Shelter. They turn at the trail across the street from us and disappear into the woods. We soon follow. Second Breakfast gets into his vehicle to begin his long drive home. It was good hiking with you, buddy. Thanks for shuttling us around.
