The morning sun is brilliant, the light autumn breeze crisp. The sun’s rays flicker through the golden leaves, reach the ground, and dance in a radiant display of light.
With coffee in hand I sit silently in observation—no, in reverence of the scene, lost in thought, lost in time. Reluctant to abandon the tranquil moment I move slowly through my morning routines.
We choose to skip breakfast but not coffee. True coffee drinkers never skip coffee. I take my final sip, and one final look at my peaceful scene, before loading the truck and heading to Damascus VA.
Hurley and Princes follow me down the mountain into Damascus. Well, race really. I occasionally glance over at my GPS on this winding road to see how tight the next curve is. I mash the accelerator in an attempt to lose them, then mash the break in an attempt to avoid falling off the mountainous road. But they keep up well. Beast and Miri are somewhere behind them, uninterested is racing.
