#65 Grayson Highlands Backpack Trip, October 2019: Day Three

I awake to the sounds of birds chirping in the trees and a pony crushing leaves under hoof as it walks through camp. Then Hurley asks me from her tent if I heard the bear walking through camp last night. She thinks it walked between her tent and mine. Though every animal movement in the woods at night is loud, a bear’s presence very distinct from any other, even from the ponies who routinely cut through camps.
