#049 Summer of 2019 - "Fews"
I think he was beginning to understand that choices we make today always affect our tomorrows in ways we can’t anticipate.
In the weeks following our Bly Gap to Fontana Crossings section hike, I spent a lot of time writing short stories about its events, then posting them to my old blog site; I wonder where the roads go. The Bear Story received a lot of attention and I enjoyed a little lighthearted teasing from my readers.
Most of my writings are recounts of events I’ve experiences or from things I’ve learned in life. Some are poems. Others are motivational or inspirationally themed. I have written a few fictional stories that still need some brushing up before sharing. Of those, I have shared some with a few with close friends. I hope one day to share them with you.
My wife and I met up with her sister, Goober, her brother, Pepe, and Pepe’s wife and son at a cabin in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge for few nights in mid July. Our friend Hurley stayed a couple of nights at the cabin with us on her way to South Carolina to visit with her sister. We all explored the area a little. There’s more to Red River Gorge than I thought. I’ve backpacked there a couple of times in the past but never really explored by vehicle.
As we entered Kentucky by way of backroads, we received a phone call informing us that our friend Scott had unexpectedly passed away at forty nine years old.
